UEFA Set to Introduce Third Competition
UEFA (Union of European Football Association) governing body is now set to introduce a third club competition alongside their premier competition, the Champions League, and the Europa League.

This was made public by the European Club Association (ECA) Chairman, Andrea Agnelli who is also the boss of Juventus FC at the annual general assembly of the European Club association held in Croatia.

He confirmed that, the new club competition will start from 2021/2022 season. Though details of this competition have not been released as they are awaiting approval from the UEFA's executive committee. However, he said the new competition which have received the "green light" will join the Champions League and Europa League to expand the overall number of clubs involved in European football to 96.

The Juventus boss, Andrea Agnelli went further to say that, “These new regulations will be even more effective than the ones we had in place which delivered astonishing results which have just been announced by UEFA”.

Andrea Agnelli, who is on the UEFA's executive committee and currently occupying one of two seats allocated to club representatives went ahead to say that, “A detailed assessment of the existing international match calendar is required prior to presenting a new model post-2024. The current model needs modernising.”
